If you refuse to deal with past hurts , then you might end up being depressed later in life.

Because it keeps your mind fixed on the bad experiences you have had in life.

Thus, causing you to constantly reflect on how undeserving you are of the good things of life.

And the more you allow these negative thoughts in your mind, the more depressed you become.


2.Through Experiencing A Major Loss

Either the loss of a loved one , loss of a job or a divorce.

Any kind of loss that affects you immensely can eventually lead to depression.


3. By Having Unrealistic Expectations Of Yourself And Life

It could be dangerous for you to have unrealistic expectations of yourself and life.

Because, if those expectations are not met, you have the tendency to fall into depression.


4.Through Lack Of adequate Self-Love

Not having enough self-love will make you lack compassion for yourself.

And as such, you may find it hard to accept your own shortcomings as

human. Thus, you might often have to beat yourself up for every mistake you make.

However, if you continue this way, you might end up being depressed.


5. Due To Chronic Illnesses

Chronic illnesses lasts for a long period of time and cannot be completely cured.

These kinds of illnesses can lead to depression in the long run, as a result of mental, physical, emotional and financial exhaustion.

Examples include diabetes, arthritis, HIV/AIDS ,heart diseases, etc.


6. Through Hormones

Hormones are more likely to cause depression in women than in men.

This is because women do experience more fluctuations in their hormones, especially around their menstrual period, after childbirth, during pregnancy, and around menopause.

Nevertheless, it’s been found that men with low testosterone levels are prone to depression.


7. Genetics

If you have people in your family who have suffered from depression, then you have a high tendency of suffering the same.


Depression is a serious mental health issue that requires adequate medical attention.

Also, it requires the care and understanding of family and friends. Because, if left untreated, it could result in devastating consequences. Therefore, you should never hesitate to seek help if you notice you are becoming depressed.
